Every session begins with observation. How is the horse moving? Where is it bracing? What is it compensating for and why?
That assessment, rooted in 20+ years of hands-on experience and a clinical foundation in anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics, shapes everything that follows.
Katharine draws on her broad toolkit of advanced modalities including targeted massage techniques, red light therapy, lymphatic drainage, acupressure point protocols, and principles from Traditional Chinese Medicine's meridian theory. She does not apply a formula. She responds to what the horse is telling her that day.
The session ends when the horse is done, not when the clock says so. And before Katharine leaves, you will understand what she found, what she addressed, and what to watch for going forward.
Step 1: Application
Every new client starts with an intake application. This gives Katharine the background she needs to understand your horse before she arrives — their history, what you are experiencing, and what you are hoping to achieve.
Step 2: Assessment
Katharine begins every session with a full observation of the horse including, movement, posture, response to touch, and behavioral cues, before any hands-on work begins.
Step 3: The Session
Techniques are chosen based on what the horse needs that day. Sessions run approximately 60 minutes, though Katharine follows the horse's lead. Some horses are ready to finish at 45 minutes and the remainder of the time is spent on exercises and guidance for the owner.
Step 4: The Debrief
Before Katharine leaves, she will walk you through what she found, what she worked on, and what you can do between appointments to support your horse's progress. Where relevant she records exercise recommendations and sends a private video link for you to reference at home.
Owners who work with Katharine consistently report the same things: a horse that is more relaxed, more willing, and moving more freely, and results that hold between sessions instead of fading within days.
That is not a coincidence. It is what happens when the source of the issue is addressed instead of the symptom.
The goal of every session is not just how your horse feels when Katharine walks out of the barn. It is how they feel six weeks from now.
"My OTTB is described by some as 'a dragon' and 'difficult.' Katharine has the most incredible sense of connection with horses of all types, and has the patience to develop the relationship that the horse needs in order to achieve therapeutic results. My guy welcomed her into his space faster than anyone else I have ever met, and becomes a noodle of relaxation in her hands. The zen lasts for weeks. Wish I could give a 20/10 rating."

"KO Equine has made such a difference calming our horse after stressful barn moves and relieving sore muscles as she is learning self carriage. We notice a difference for weeks after her sessions. Katharine is knowledgeable and informative. Highly recommend for your equine athlete."

That depends on your horse's individual needs, workload, and what is found in the initial session. Katharine will discuss a recommended schedule with you based on what she observes.
Yes. Katharine requires the owner or a knowledgeable handler to be present. Part of the value of every session is the education and debrief that happens alongside the hands-on work.
It is actually one of the reasons owners seek Katharine out. Her background in natural horsemanship gives her the tools to read a horse's mental and emotional state and work with it rather than against it. She declines sedation and starts where the horse is.
Fill out the intake application. Katharine reviews every application personally and will reach out if she feels it is a good fit to discuss next steps and schedule an initial appointment.
